The Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club is situated in the village of Rhu, on the Gareloch, a sea-loch adjoining the River Clyde. Rhu has a local shop, two hotels, a pub, and Rhu Marina. The town of Helensburgh is 2-miles away and has a variety of shops, supermarkets and numerous coffee shops and restaurants, as well as two train stations giving access to the highlands, and direct train service to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Helensburgh and Rhu have a limited number of hotels and houses to rent, but they are all within easy walking distance or a short taxi ride from the regatta venues.
Just a 15-minute (7 miles )drive from Rhu is the holiday destination of Loch Lomond, which has a variety of self-catering accommodation as well as the 5-Star Cameron House Hotel with its own golf course and spa facilities.
There are also a couple of places in the nearby village of Cardross and on the outskirts of Dumbarton.
As well as the accommodation options on this list, there are several 1- or 2-bedroom flats to rent in the area on AirBnB or Booking.com. If you are looking at places within the Helensburgh area these should be fine, but if you are looking further afield, towards Dumbarton or Glasgow please be aware that some areas are more built up and may not be as nice areas to stay in.
Also make sure you look at the map carefully to ensure that you are not across the water in Greenock or Rosneath as this will mean a much longer car journey to reach the RNCYC and Rhu Marina. Balloch and Luss are villages near Loch Lomond that are a 20-minute car journey from Rhu.
